Blog 18: 2-Hour Meeting Answer #3


1. What is the best way to prevent injury as an All-Star Cheerleader?

2. One of the best ways to prevent injury as an All-Star Cheerleader is to demonstrate proper technique.
3.  
  1. Technique is how your muscles learn a skill so well that the athlete will be able to perform it without thinking.
  2. Having technique drilled upon training, an athlete will perform a skill correctly, absent mistakes, meaning that injury potential will seriously be reduced.
  3. When an athlete is fatigued in their routine and can hardly think of what they are doing next, technique carries them through it and allows them to perform everything correctly and safely due to muscle memory.
4. My mentor Jason Brandt and readings from Debbie Love. Debbie love is one of the most decorated Cheer/ Gymnastic coaches because of her strive for perfect technique.
5. I plan to study the effectiveness of coaching technique, and different ways to teach it, also ways to absorb the information.
