Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement
From my two hour I have to say that I am most proud of the audience during my activities. I gave them some pretty challenging tasks to do and I did my best to make them fun. They all pushed themselves very hard to continue on! It was great to see that and I was inspired to keep up the vibe they had!
(2) Questions to Consider
a. What assessment would you give yourself on your 2-Hour Presentation (self-assessment)?

AE  P  AP CR NC

b. What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?

AE P  AP CR NC

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
I was able to find a lot of research once I started looking in the right place, taking the direction of a scientific point of view really helped me in the end. It gave me fantastic sources for my answers.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?
To be honest I would be a lot more focused on every aspect. I would have split my dedications evenly so that I would have gotten better grades and left a better mark.

(5) Finding Value
After studying how to prevent injury and different sciences behind how the body works. I can walk away from this with a better understanding of how to be a safe athlete in this sport but also in nearly anything I try. I have learned the proper way to strengthen the muscles of my body and how to rehabilitate myself should I acquire new injuries. I have found that I would do well as a physical therapist and decided that it will be my fall back.

Possible Two-hour Use

These pictures will most likely be used in my two hour to help me describe part of my answers.

Becoming a Coed Stunter

My goal for this next season is to apply my studies from this project and strengthen my body so that I can be a kick ass stunter. My new coaches have told me I have the potential to be one so long as I go through hell first. I am planning on taking up a workout regime that will maximize my ability to stunt.

Here are some examples of what I'd like to do.

Leaving Starlite

As the season came to an end, there was a lot of drama started at Starlite. With rumors of the coaches Jason and Brady leaving, parents got antsy and some athletes took it harder than others. When my family left the gym to seek progress, all we got was trash talk from the people we have given everything to, it was very discouraging and disappointing. I lost a lot of respect for some people and it made the transition to a new gym seem that much more attractive. One thing I can say I'm proud of is keeping a close relationship with my coaches by following them and staying under their mentorship to be a better athlete.

Making Cali Coed

I tried out for a world class team recently, I wasn't sure if I would make the team because I lack the level 5 skills necessary which is tumbling through to full twisting layouts. I made the team which is a huge honor to me because it means that they see some sort of potential in me to be an important member of the team.  I hope that I can stay on this team and help bring California Allstars another world title.

Interpretive
The most important thing I have gained from this experience has to be the relationships I created with my girls and boys. Getting to know each of these young athletes was one of the most rewarding experiences, because each person had a different story. Some of the girls showed promise early on and some showed the potential of being easily taught. The boys were the rockstars of the team, both of them had absolutely zero experience cheering, but came in ready to learn. They caught on quickly and surprised all the coaches with their determination and desire to be the best. These young athletes showed me the importance of relationships in this sport and how they can change the mentality of an entire team with one mood swing.  I learned how the emotions a coach gives off, will influence the way the athlete responds to a demand.
Applied
Through coaching these young kids as they learn new skills and perfect the ones they have, you pick up a few things. I picked up ways to make sure these kids stayed safe and through speaking with the other coaches, ways to be a better cheerleader. Almost everytime I looked at the way we practiced, my answers were right there in front of me. It was very reassuring to have them be clear as day, and to be able to insure that these answers were enough to satisfy my EQ. I wish that all seniors get to experience their answers coming to life as they are studying first hand exactly what they want to.
